New Listserv set up for Open House Announcements
The Bartow Area Board of REALTORS® is introducing a new communication service for members of the membership. This new feature - a Listserv - allows all members to communicate effectively through one email address. This can be used to communicate your open house announcements.

BABR Supports Local Seniors Through Etowah Foundation
For 2009, the Bartow Board committed to donating $2,500 to the Etowah Foundation, a collaborative of parents, community organizations, educational systems, and businesses working to provide resources for students in the North Georgia community. Five Scholarships of $500 each will be presented on June 4th to 5 graduating seniors. Awards are based on several factors and students must submit a one page essay explaining who they are and why they deserve a scholarship. Congratulations to Matthew Powell of Adairsville High School, Chloe Golden of Woodland High School, Charles Marsala of Cass High School, Kristen Smith of Excel Christian Academy and Camille Barnet of Cartersville High School. We wish each of you and the rest of the graduating class of 2009 much success in your future!
Cost vs. Value: Your Expertise Needed
REALTOR® magazine is looking for real estate salespeople, brokers, and appraisers to complete the 2009-10 Cost vs. Value survey. Respondents review 33 different home improvement projects and estimate what value they'll bring if the home is resold in the current market. The survey covers 80 U.S. metropolitan areas. Members in those markets who complete the survey are entered in a drawing for one of three $500 American Express gift cards. GREC Proposed Amendment
The Georgia Real Estate Commission is proposing a Rule change to comply with recently enacted legislation. You have until June 29 to express any opinions concerning this change to Jeff Ledford, GA Real Estate Commissioner. The Rule clarifies disclosure requirements of House Bill 315, requiring written notice on settlement statements or supplemental documents of any fee, charge, rebate, profit, commission, referral fee or other valuable consideration related to a real estate transaction, including leases and management agreements.

Save the Date - Annual Charity Golf Tournament

The date for this year's Annual Golf Tournament has been set for Wednesday, September 23rd at The Plantation Golf Course. Player Information and Sponsorship information will be released in July, so be on the lookout. If you are interested in joining the Committee, the first meeting will be July 8th at 9:30 am at Homestead Properties located at 222 E. Main Street.
